Maintaining your furniture

Lacquered finishes:

Maintenance is straightforward with the furniture requiring no more than regular cleaning with a good quality furniture polish.

Oil Finishes:

To maintain the finish of your oiled Furniture, we recommend regular treatments with Danish Oil. Since leaving the factory, your furniture may have spent some time in transport and storage and a treatment soon after you take delivery may benefit the appearance of your furniture. After that, six monthly intervals should suffice. More frequent applications can be applied. Areas of heavy usage, such as table tops or tops of chests, will benefit from more frequent applications

Oiling could not be easier. Simply apply a thin coat with a soft, lint free cloth and leave for 5-10 minutes for the oil to penetrate, before removing any excess. Leave for a further 30 minutes and wipe dry. Always pay careful attention to all manufacturers’ instructions.

Fabrics

All fabrics used on the seat pads comply with BS 5852 Part I-ISO and BS 5852 Part II-ISO.

Leather

Leather is a natural product and as such, bares all hallmarks of its origin. No two hides will be the same. Unique and individual markings such as scars, wrinkles, irregularities in the grain, insect bites and other marks like veins, may appear on a hide and should not be considered as defects. Instead, they tell the story of its life and give leather a unique identity, which enhances its natural beauty and characteristic; this is part of the leatherʼs appeal and what makes it different from all other materials.

Care for your Seat Pad

  • Dust leather furniture regularly with a soft cloth
  • Occasional overall cleaning should be carried out by wiping over a tepid solution of pure soaping agent applied using a damp cloth
  • Lighter colours of leather may become permanently stained by coming into contact with non colour fast fabrics or clothing e.g. denim
  • Avoid placing leather in direct sunlight or next to radiators as fading and drying out may occur
  • Avoid items that may scratch the leather such as buckles, rivets, children’s toys or pets
  • Keep upholstery clean by vacuuming with a soft brush
  • Treat all stains and spills immediately: use an absorbant cloth and blot the stain - do not rub excesssively
